New Orleans Saints All-Pro wide receiver Michael Thomas has officially been ruled out for the team's Sunday night matchup with the Green Bay Packers.

It seemed doubtful Thomas would play after he did not practice on Thursday. Indeed, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Thomas will miss his second straight game due to the high-ankle sprain he suffered in Week 1.

The Saints will have to find a way to have more success in the passing game without Thomas on the field.

Drew Brees threw for 312 yards against the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday, and he looked much-improved in comparison to a poor performance in Week 1. However, many of those were drop-offs to running back Alvin Kamara, who led the team with nine catches for 95 yards.

New Orleans will demand more from its receiving corps.

Tre'Quan Smith had a big game with five catches for 86 yards. But fellow wideout Emmanuel Sanders and tight end Jared Cook were mostly held in check.

Sanders' Saints career has not gotten off to the best of starts. He was targeted five times in the opener, but had just three catches for a mere 15 yards. Sanders was almost shut out in Week 2, with just a single catch for 18 yards.

Cook had five receptions for 80 yards in Week 1, but followed with just two catches for 13 yards—including a touchdown—against the Raiders.

The Saints will have to find a way to get Sanders and Cook more involved on Sunday as they face a high-powered Packers team leading the NFL in both points scored and total yards.
