Earlier this offseason, the New Orleans Saints were able to sign Emmanuel Sanders in free agency, giving them another weapon in their passing attack. Nearly two months after the move took place, Michael Thomas opened up about teaming up with Sanders.

“He’s a great vet,” Thomas said, via Luke Johnson of Nola.com. “He’s played in some big-time games, so he knows what it takes. That was just adding another great piece to the puzzle, and I can’t wait to see how it enhances our offense.”

In recent years, the Saints have been able to put together an offense that features Thomas, Alvin Kamara, and Jared Cook. But one thing New Orleans has been missing in the offense is a reliable No. 2 wide receiver for Drew Brees to throw the ball to.

Prior to joining the Saints, Sanders was with the San Francisco 49ers last season. In 10 games with the 49ers, Sanders amassed 36 receptions for 502 yards and three touchdowns. Above all, he helped San Francisco advance to the Super Bowl.

On the other hand, Sanders won a Super Bowl with the Denver Broncos back in 2015. Provided that, Sanders — who is entering his 11th season in the NFL — gives New Orleans a proven winner in the locker room.

At the same time, the Saints now have a wide receiver that could ease some pressure off of Thomas in the aerial attack. Even though he's 33 years old, Sanders is still a formidable option at wide receiver. With that in mind, we could very well see a much-improved offense for Thomas and the Saints.
