The New Orleans Saints have reportedly decided to part ways with running back Mark Ingram. However, wide receiver Michael Thomas feels nothing is set in stone just yet.

With Ingram set to become an unrestricted free agent, it is highly likely that he has played his last year in New Orleans.

In a now-deleted tweet, Thomas referenced Antony Barr changing his mind and returning to the Minnesota Vikings, which he's hoping Ingram will do by coming back to New Orleans:

Mark Ingram about to pull [an] Anthony Barr stay tuned

Thomas is referring to Minnesota Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr. Barr had reportedly agreed to terms on a deal with the New York Jets before deciding to return to Minnesota. It appears Thomas is optimistic that Ingram will perhaps do the same.

Unfortunately, rumors suggest that is highly unlikely at this point. There was already plenty of speculation regarding Ingram's future in New Orleans at the beginning of the offseason, however, the signing of running back Latavius Murray essentially solidifies that notion.

Although a number of his teammates have been vocal about wanting him to stay, it seems the Saints will look to get more bang for their back out of Murray as running back Alvin Kamara likely transitions to a workhorse role.

At this point, it is safe to say that Ingram's price tag will be far too steep for New Orleans. He endured a bit of a down year in 2018 after missing the first for games of the season while serving a suspension. As a result, he finished with just 645 yards and six touchdowns on 138 carries.

Despite his recent struggles, his versatile skill set should find him a home rather quickly.
