New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas has yet to take the field again after the team's Week 1 victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers due to a sustained high ankle injury. On October 11, he then figured in an altercation with Saints cornerback Chauncey Gardner-Johnson during a team practice which led to the team handing disciplinary measures for his actions which included a $50,000 fine.

Saints head coach Sean Payton shed light on Thomas' situation and whether or not he will return to the field in their upcoming Week 7 matchup, as per ESPN's Mike Triplett:

The three-time Pro Bowler only tallied 17 receiving yards on three receptions before being sidelined in their opening game against the Buccaneers which ended on a 34-28 victory for the Saints.

Head coach Sean Payton and his men still managed to defend their home turf in their most recent encounter against the Los Angeles Chargers which needed an extra period to snag a tightly-contested 30-27 triumph.

The New Orleans-based squad is still keeping their heads above water without the top receiver on their corner in the early stages of the season. The team has accumulated a 2-3 record through five games played to sit at the second spot of the NFC South division.

The bye in Week 6 may have helped Thomas get back on track before being able to potentially join the Saints in their Week 7 encounter against division rival Carolina Panthers. The developments on the coming days regarding Thomas' situation will confirm whether or not the five-year veteran will suit up for the Saints.
