The New Orleans Saints are listing star receiver Michael Thomas as questionable for the team's Week 5 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Thomas injured his ankle in Week 1 for the Saints against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and hasn't played since.

The Saints are 2-2 on the young season. They have defeated the Bucs and Detroit Lions and lost to the Las Vegas Raiders and Green Bay Packers.

Michael Thomas is one of the best wideouts in the NFL. He has career numbers of 473 receptions with the Saints for 5,529 yards and 32 touchdowns. If New Orleans wants to make a Super Bowl run this season, the team needs Drew Brees' number one option back on the field sooner rather than later.

While the Saints are favored to defeat the Chargers, Los Angeles rookie quarterback Justin Herbert has been turning heads left and right since taking over for an injured Tyrod Taylor. The Saints seemingly always struggle with mobile quarterbacks who can also stretch the field with strong arms, so this is certainly a “trap” game for New Orleans, with or without Thomas.

As long as Brees is playing for the Saints, the team is going to be competitive. However, the future Hall of Famer may not have that many years left of being an elite QB, so the franchise must have an urgency to win it all soon.
