There goes my hero … and he's not a Pro Bowler.

Not all National Football League heroes are built on the field. In fact, New Orleans Saints defensive lineman Mitchell Loewen is the perfect case in point when he decided to save a man who was facing a life or death situation while trapped in an SUV, as told by Richard A. Webster of the Times-Picayune.

“There were a bunch of people standing around, but not approaching the car and I was like ‘What's up, let's help this guy. I mean, obviously there was someone in there, I wasn't going to just stand by and watch. It was a life or death situation.”

Amazingly, a silver Mercedes Benz SUV landed on its roof, upside down following a crash in a New Orleans parking garage on Sunday afternoon.

“There was no way I could have dragged him out of that, so I called for people to come help and about 10 of us flipped the car onto its side,” Loewen said.

“It was like a movie. I just did what I had to do, and I wasn't thinking about anything else,” Loewen said.

Loewen, 25, didn't act alone in the rescue. This much is certain and should be pointed out. It does appear that he was the ringleader in helping the innocent yet unlucky driver.

Loewen is an undrafted Arkansas product who signed on with the Saints in 2016. He's impressed much of the organization with his pass-rushing ability and will look to build upon a solid professional career this coming season.
