P.J. Williams is back with the New Orleans Saints. The cornerback is re-signing with the Saints on a one-year deal, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Per Rapoport, the contract will be worth $5 million. It's a nice chunk of change for the 2015 third round pick. The Florida State product had spent the first four years of his career with the Saints, and opted to return home after testing the open market. Williams was a big part of New Orleans' defense last year, appearing in 15 games and starting seven.

In those 15 games, Williams had 53 tackles and one interception which he returned for a touchdown. He also added nine passes defended. New Orleans is, of course, coming off a heartbreaking loss to the Rams in the NFC Championship Game. If it weren't for a missed pass- interference call, the Saints almost certainly would've been headed to the Super Bowl.

Instead, they'll be heading into 2019 angry and extra fired up. Williams should again be a key player in the defense, and as Rapoport points out, he'll get the chance to cash in on the open market next season if he has a strong year. Williams received bad grades from Pro Football Focus last year and was their #104th-ranked cornerback, but that apparently didn't dissuade the Saints.

The Saints have made some nice moves, like adding tight end Jared Cook, while retaining many of their own guys like Williams. They're gearing up for another run, and should be right back in the thick of things in the NFC playoff picture next season.
