During the New Orleans Saints dominant 36-25 win over the Chicago Bears, defensive back Eli Apple suffered a knee injury. The ‘initial belief' is that the diagnosis is a hyperextended knee, according to Nick Underhill of The Athletic.

John Hendrix of SB Nation first reported that the Saints initially believed Apple hyperextended his knee, which is the same diagnosis as what Underhill reported. While still unconfirmed, the matter is that the Saints believe that Apple did not suffer a major injury to his knee.

The injury that Apple suffered occurred when he slipt on the turf and fell to the ground. He was able to walk off the field but did so with a noticeable limp. For what it's worth, his mother posted a video of him walking after the game.

It's important for the Saints that their defensive backs continue to stay healthy. Their defense as a whole has truly hit their stride recently and maintaining that will be key in achieving a first-round bye in the playoffs.

The next matchup that the Saints have on their schedule is against the Arizona Cardinals at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. They are a formidable adversary given the three-game winning streak that rookie quarterback Kyler Murray and head coach Kliff Kingsbury has led them to recently.

An official diagnosis has yet to be made but updates regarding Apples' injury status are expected to be made soon.
