The New Orleans Saints were hoping that Dez Bryant would become a key part of their offense, but are fearing that he went down with a torn Achilles in practice today. Brandon Marshall could end up becoming a target for the Saints to help replace the loss of Bryant and to take pressure off of star receiver Michael Thomas.

According to a report from Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Saints could turn to Marshall if Bryant is indeed done for the season.

Marshall is in the final stages of his career, but is still a capable target. He played with the Seattle Seahawks earlier this season before being released.

In the seven games that he played with the Seahawks in a limited role, Marshall caught 11 passes for 136 yards and a touchdown. He may not be the star that he once was, but with Drew Brees he could be a dangerous weapon. Either way, the Saints need to make a move.

Cameron Meredith, one of the talented receivers currently on the Saints roster, has been shut down for surgery.

At 34 years old, Marshall is looking for an ideal opportunity to compete for a Super Bowl. New Orleans can certainly offer him that. They are arguably one of the top teams in the NFL and defeated the previously undefeated Los Angeles Rams 45-35 last week.

New Orleans may not end up replacing Bryant with anyone, but if they do, Marshall is a key name to watch. They had interest in him after a solid workout earlier this week.

Expect to hear more information about the Saints' plans in the near future. Marshall may end up being their guy.
