New Orleans Saints expected to have interest in acquiring Antonio Brown
Count the New Orleans Saints among the teams that could be looking to trade for Antonio Brown this offseason.
The Steelers are looking for a first-round draft pick in exchange for Brown’s services, which makes plenty of sense considering that the Oakland Raiders received a first-rounder for a far inferior wide out in Amari Cooper in a trade with the Dallas Cowboys this season.
It seems that Pittsburgh has had it with Brown’s antics.
In the week leading up to the season finale, the 31-year-old got into a heated dispute with Ben Roethlisberger which apparently ended in Brown throwing a football at Roethlisberger and then refused to practice, complained of knee pain but refused to go for an MRI, went AWOL on the team and was then consequently benched by Mike Tomlin for the Steelers’ Week 17 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Throw in the fact that some Pittsburgh players were reportedly questioning the legitimacy of Brown’s knee injury, and things are not looking too good for the star receiver right about now.
All of that being said, Brown remains one of the best wide receivers in the league and would be a huge addition to any team.
This season, Brown hauled in 104 receptions for 1,297 yards and a league-leading 15 touchdowns en route to his seventh Pro Bowl appearance.
The Steelers went 8-7-1 this year, missing the playoffs for the first time since 2013.
