The New Orleans Saints finally made the decision on Lataius Murray, Alvin Kamara's backup. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Saints are releasing Murray. Before they did, they asked him to take a pay cut and the veteran running back declined, resulting in the release from New Orleans.

Murray is fresh off of the best campaign in his career and was an important piece for the Saints last season, but the writing had been on the wall for some time as they look to save some money and go with some younger options.

Drew Brees retired, and the Saints have named Jameis Winston as the team's starter with a roster that will look quite different than it did a year ago.

So, Murray is gone, and surely the veteran picks up on another team, perhaps the Baltimore Ravens who worked out Le'Veon Bell and Devonta Freeman–who was also released from the Saints recently.

The Saints will peg Tony Jones, the 23-year-old, as Kamara's backup after Murray's departure, and it should only be a matter of time before Murray lands a job with another team.

The Saints are preparing for their season opener and Sean Payton's group should enjoy a somewhat successful year if Winston can live up to the hype.
