The NFL has some pretty stringent rules when it comes to teams publicly recruiting players from opposing squads. These policies, however, do not include the city's mayor. This is exactly why New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell came out with a rather compelling recruitment pitch for the New Orleans saints aimed at Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.

Mayor Cantrell was not at all discreet with her desire to bring Wilson to New Orleans, as she published this message on her Twitter account:

Talk about a strong recruitment pitch, right? The good Mayor even had her Saints props on full display for her message.

“I've heard the rumors now and I wanna make sure that you understand that the city of New Orleans is a place for you and your beautiful family,” she said. “I'm LaToya Cantrell, Mayor of the City of New Orelans, and I know Mr. Wilson that you will be a great addition to the New Orleans Saints. And more importantly, I can see us in that number, winning that Super Bowl championship once again.”

Mayor Cantrell went all-in with her recruiting pitch, even going as far as saying that a Super Bowl title was in the books should Wilson opt to take his talents to New Orleans.

Cantrell was pretty smart with her message as well, hitting up Wilson's better half, Ciara, who the mayor virtually already booked for the city's famed Essence Music Festival:

“And what else I can see? The Mrs., Ciara Wilson herself on that main stage during the historical Essence Festival,” Cantrell added. “Just wanted to stop in and let you know that we not only admire you, we want you. Love you, man. Love Ciara, love your beautiful family. The culture of the city of New Orleans awaits you.”

Wilson has been the stuff of trade rumors of late, but once you take Mayor Cantrell's recruitment pitch into consideration, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the Saints leap into pole position in the Wilson sweepstakes.
