The New Orleans Saints are scheduled to meet with free agent tight end Jared Cook on Thursday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Cook spent the 2018 campaign with the Oakland Raiders and was one of the top tight ends in the league, hauling in 68 receptions for 896 yards and six touchdowns in what was the best season of his career.

The 31-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of South Carolina, was originally selected by the Tennessee Titans in the third round (89th pick overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft.

He played in 14 games during his rookie season, logging just nine catches for 74 yards. Then, the following year, Cook's role grew, as he caught 29 passes for 361 yards and a score.

The Birmingham, Al. native then had a breakout year in 2011, snaring 49 balls for 759 yards while reaching the end zone three times. From that point forward, Cook became one of the central figures in the Titans' offense, spending his first four years with the club before signing with the St. Louis Rams in 2013.

He put together back-to-back 600-plus-yard campaigns in his first two seasons with the Rams, hauling in 51 receptions for 671 yards and five touchdowns in 2013 and then catching 52 passes for 634 yards and three scores the following season.
