With training camp in full swing, there are still a number of notable free agents left on the market. This year's crop of wideouts just got a little bit smaller with the New Orleans' Saints' signing of Michael Floyd.

Floyd hit the market after a quiet year with the Minnesota Vikings. According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, he will get a chance to re-establish himself in New Orleans:

Floyd was once one of the most promising, young receivers in the league after being selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2012 NFL Draft. He even managed to register his first 1,000-yard campaign in just his second year with the Cardinals. Unfortunately, he was eventually released during the 2016 NFL season after being arrested for a DUI.

He finished the 2016 campaign with the New England Patriots before signing a one-year deal in his native Minnesota prior to last season. However, it was hardly a homecoming worth celebrating after he recorded just 10 receptions for 78 yards.

Floyd will have a chance to compete for a spot in a Saints' receiving corps that is rather thin outside of Michael Thomas and Ted Ginn Jr. New Orleans committed itself to the run game last year thanks to the dynamic duo of Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara. However, with the latter suspended for the first four games of the season, they may have to briefly rely on a pass-heavy approach. Given Floyd's recent track record, it is difficult to gauge whether or not he can thrive under head coach Sean Payton.
