Dez Bryant never got the chance to show the New Orleans Saints what he's capable of doing on Sundays. According to Jane Slater of NFL Network, though, the Saints want to bring the nine-year veteran back next season.

Bryant signed a one-year deal with New Orleans on November 7th after sitting out the first two months of the regular season. He had previously been released by the Dallas Cowboys in April, ensuring the team wouldn't have to pay him his $12.5 million salary for the 2018 season. Less than a week after signing with the Saints, Bryant tore his Achilles tendon on the final play of a Friday practice, ending his season and potentially putting his career in doubt.

Once one of the most dynamic forces in football, Bryant has made more headlines off the field of late than on it, with Cowboys insiders frequently mentioning his penchant for disrupting locker-room chemistry. He also struggled in Dallas to develop a rapport with franchise quarterback Dak Prescott, as his numbers fell drastically during his final two years with the team following the retirement of longtime quarterback Tony Romo.

During Bryant's last healthy season in 2017, he had 69 catches for 138 yards and six scores, numbers somewhat artificially inflated by his sky-high number of 132 targets. It's unclear how much Bryant had left in the tank before his injury, and given the serious nature of Achilles tears, it seems unlikely he would be able to make an impact for the Saints in 2019.
