This season has been the year of the quarterback so far, so it's understandable to see why a good number of teams are interested in acquiring Colin Kaepernick. However, the New Orleans Saints have announced that they're taking themselves out of the Kaepernick sweepstakes before they even begin.

Rod Walker of nola.com asked Saints head coach Sean Payton whether the team would consider making even a quick look at the quarterback who swerved way out of his lane in 2016. He probably knew what Payton's answer was going to be, but the world needed to know that the Saints are extremely happy with their quarterback situation.

“I won’t pay attention because it isn’t a need for us,” Saints coach Sean Payton said on Thursday morning.

There's no need for the team to make a move for Kaepernick, after all. Drew Brees is an excellent quarterback in spite of his rather lackluster outing against the Atlanta Falcons. He has a chance to take the Saints to a Super Bowl berth if everything goes according to plan.

However, the person that makes the New Orleans quarterback squad the best in the league is Teddy Bridgewater. Considered by almost everyone as the best No. 2 QB in the league, he encapsulated why backup quarterbacks have become an important presence for a team's success. His impressive play from the pocket is a huge reason why the Saints are currently at the top of the NFC South division.

Plenty of teams want the strength they have at quarterback, so they will consider signing Kaepernick. A good number of teams will be attending his workout on Saturday. It will be interesting to see where he ends up after this progress, or if teams pass him over again.
