Former NFL quarterback Peyton Manning retired as the most prolific passer in NFL history thanks to his countless number of records. However, he is well-aware that it is only a matter of time before they are claimed by New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees.

Brees is on the verge of breaking several notable NFL passing records in the 2018 NFL season. Manning said via the Times-Picayune that his milestones being passed is an inevitability:

“He’s just been the ultimate pro, taking care of himself, being in great shape,” Manning said . “It’s a credit to him for playing as long as he has, at such a high level. He changed teams, which I know what that’s like. That is not easy going from San Diego to New Orleans, and he’s just been a great model of consistently obviously [with what] he and Sean [Peyton] have been able to do in 12 years together now.

“Yeah, I don’t think it’s a matter of if. It’s just a matter of when. He deserves it. He’s been a great player for a long time.”

Bress needs 1,495 passing yards and 51 touchdowns in order to overtake Manning in those categories. The former Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos legend is not the only one who has seen the writing on the wall. Brees is also on the verge of breaking former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre's records for completions and attempts. When it is all said and done, he very well could own every notable passing mark in the book.

Brees numbers took a dip in the 2017 campaign due to the Saints' run-heavy approach. Even he also seems to acknowledge that his days are numbered. However, the veteran should have no problem putting up numbers thanks to his uncanny accuracy and explosive weapons on offense.
