As New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton prepares for this Sunday's game with the Los Angeles Rams, he knows how big of a factor crowd noise can be. The Saints crowd is very loud, and the volume within the Superdome can be very overwhelming for opposing teams.

According to The New Orleans Advocate, Payton's thoughts on the home field crowd noise ahead of Sunday's game.

“I think what's important for our fan base is understanding when that crowd noise needs to begin differently this week than normal weeks. That crowd noise needs to begin prior to 15 seconds left (on the play clock). That crowd needs to begin just as that last play finished.”

Payton continued to talk about how the Rams will likely respond to the crowd noise on Sunday. “They do a good job of trying to counter that (crowd noise) with tempo, or change of tempo.” The Rams did the best they could during the two team's last game back in Week 9, but the Saints ultimately got the best of the Rams earlier this season. The Rams were without star cornerback Aqib Talib and teammate Marcus Peters had a tough day guarding Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas. Thomas went for a career-high 211 yards on 12 receptions, which was without the game-deciding factor for the Rams.

The Rams defense will look to contain New Orleans' playmakers including Thomas and the running back tandem of Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram. The Saints will also use whatever they can to their advantage as they are on the brink of a Super Bowl return, so in this case, bring on the crowd noise.
