The New Orleans Saints suffered another brutal playoff exit this past year, as the team was the victim of a blown pass interference call that helped the Los Angeles Rams comeback and force overtime in the NFC Championship Game.

Despite that tough loss, however, Saints coach Sean Payton feels the team is ready to move on and compete this year.

Speaking with Chris Simms during the American Century Championship golf tournament this weekend via Pro Football Talk, Payton noted that he doesn’t think last years game will impact the team much. Of course, the Saints were also victims of another tough playoff exit in 2017, when the Minnesota Vikings managed to score a last-second touchdown against them to advance to the NFC title game.

According to the coach, the loss to the Rams “was a lot more difficult” for the team to deal with than their 2017 playoff loss to the Vikings, but he believes the team has “a young, resilient locker room” and that the togetherness of the team is good enough to move forward.

While the loss to the Rams has resulted in widespread debate and change regarding how the NFL polices plays, the Saints seem ready to just put it all behind them.

With most of their roster from the past two seasons still together, the Saints once again look to be the toast of the NFC.

As Drew Brees tries once again to lead the Saints to another Super Bowl, they’ll have an early chance to set themselves apart from the conference, when they play the Rams in Week Two of the 2019 regular season.
