The New Orleans Saints have now added veteran Dez Bryant to bolster their banged-up receiving corps. But Saints head coach Sean Payton remains unsure if Dez will be ready to make his Saints debut this Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals.

“It'd be hard for me to comment not having had a practice yet. But we'll take a peek and see how he does today and tomorrow and we'll fill you in on Sunday,” Payton said per Mike Triplett. “We'll take it one day at a time and see how much he can digest and give him parts to the plan and there's a third-down element, a red-zone element, a lot of different things that he provides versatility for.”

Payton says that Bryant was around five pounds heavier than the Saints would like him to be. However, he added that it’s not out of the ordinary considering Bryant hasn’t gone through training camp.

And obviously, Dez showed enough during his workout to convince the Saints that he was still capable of contributing for them this season.

If Bryant does skip Sunday's game against the Bengals, he'll most likely make his debut against a familiar foe in the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 11.

With Cameron Meredith heading to IR, the Saints will now be left with just Michael Thomas and Tre’Quan Smith as their primary wide receivers for their game against the Bengals, with running backs Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram and tight end Benjamin Watson supplying additional offensive production.

But as last week's win against the previously-unbeaten Rams showed, those skill position players are more than enough for Drew Brees to put up points.
