If you thought New Orleans Saints fans had finally gotten over the NFC Championship Game, you thought wrong.

Last night's Super Bowl between the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams drew the lowest rating ever in the city of New Orleans, earning a mark of 26.1, according to Jeff Duncan of The New Orleans Times-Picayune. Not only that, but it was the worst rating of any market in the country on Sunday night.

It's hard to blame Saints fans.

New Orleans appeared to be in the driver's seat to advance to its first Super Bowl since the 2009-10 campaign late in the NFC Championship Game two weeks ago, having the ball in the red zone with limited time remaining in a tie game in the fourth quarter.

However, on third down, Drew Brees lofted a pass to Tommylee Lewis, but Rams cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman clearly got to Lewis before the ball arrived, not only hitting him early but hitting him helmet-to-helmet.

There should have been two fouls on the play, but ultimately, neither penalty was called.

That forced the Saints to settle for a field goal on fourth down, and on the ensuing Rams possession, Los Angeles marched down the field and sent the game into overtime with a field goal.

The Rams then won the contest in the extra session thanks to a 57-yard boot by Greg Zuerlein.

It marked New Orleans' second straight devastating playoff loss. Last year, the Saints lost to the Minnesota Vikings on a miracle play, as Stefon Diggs scored a catch-and-run touchdown at the end of regulation to send the Vikings to the NFC Championship Game.
