The New Orleans Saints walked away from Sunday Night Football with a tough victory over the Dallas Cowboys, a game that ended in a 12-10 score after an incredibly tough defensive battle. The win moved the Saints to 3-1 on the year, and although it wasn’t pretty, quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is happy to just come away with a win.

“No one said it had to be pretty,” Bridgewater said, via Amie Just of NOLA.com. “We were able to come away with the win today. Defense, hats off to those guys; the kicking game, they were able to change the field position, and how about Wil Lutz making four field goals?”

“… We know we've got to be better on offense, but that's why it's a team sport. Offense carries the defense, defense carries the offense, and kicking game as well. Overall, great team win and we're all excited.”

Bridgewater, who is stepping in for Drew Brees as he recovers from an injury to his thumb, was more than good enough to keep the Saints in the game. He finished with 23-of-30 passes completed for 193 yards and one interception. While he wasn’t able to give the team any touchdowns, he limited his turnovers and helped the team keep the ball as they outlasted a Cowboys team looking to move to 4-0.

With the Saints looking to continue winning without Brees, Bridgewater's play will be the biggest factor on just how well the team does. With a matchup against the division rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers lined up next, the Saints will once again have their work cut out for them, but will be happy knowing that a win of any kind will continue to keep them afloat while their franchise quarterback heals up.
