Amid the controversy surrounding Drew Brees, there has been a major what-if scenario to surface. According to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora, Tom Brady had an interest in signing with the New Orleans Saints had Brees chosen to retire.

Following the 2019 season, Brees took some time to reflect on whether or not he was going to retire. After putting some thought into it, Brees decided to return to the Saints, signing a two-year deal to remain in New Orleans.

On the other hand, Brady chose to leave the New England Patriots after 20 successful seasons. While Brees re-signed with the Saints, Brady joined the NFC South himself by inking a two-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

For Brees, it's evident that he could very well be playing in his final year in 2020. Earlier this offseason, it was revealed that Brees has already signed a broadcasting deal with NBC Sports for whenever he chooses to retire from the NFL.

Both Brees and Brady have defied the odds at the quarterback position, playing at a high level into their 40s. With that being said, it appears that Brady intends to play until he's at least 45 years old. Seeing that Brees' arm strength is deteriorating, it's unlikely he will be able to achieve the same goal as Brady.

Without a doubt, the Saints are glad that Brees chose to return for another season, especially with Teddy Bridgewater departing in free agency. However, it would have been interesting to see Brady throwing passes to Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara in 2020.
