Two very important sequel titles may be only purchasable from the Epic Games Store, leaked court documents show. It appears that Saints Row 5 and Dead Island 2 will launch as Epic Games Store exclusives.

Saints Row 5 and Dead Island 2 are “what's next” for Epic Games Store

Internal documents from Epic Games determined through a 2019 survey which PC games users look forward to. There, the names of Dead Island and Saints Row appeared. The document shows a chart of the most anticipated games in different countries: US, Germany, France, and Brazil. A note says that titles in red boxes will launch as EGS exclusives. Among those boxed in red are titles that eventually released exclusively in the EGS: Watch Dogs: LegionMechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, and Borderlands 3. However, some titles there haven't been released yet. These titles were Saints Row and Dead Island.

Although Dead Island 2 already has a set release date of December 31, 2021Saints Row 5 hasn't even been announced yet. It's likely that Saints Row 5 will finally make its grand entrance during E3 2021 this summer, but that's still just speculation.

Other reports have shown that Epic Games has been spending lots of money to market its storefront. It appears to have spent billions to lock in games exclusively on the EGS for a limited time, with $115 million for Borderlands 3 alone. On the other hand, they've also paid publishers millions to have them offer their games for free as part of EGS' weekly rotation. These strategies seem to work well in terms of user growth for Epic, but most of the users never end up spending money on the platform.
