In the second quarter of Sunday's showdown between the New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, quarterback Drew Brees threw his third touchdown pass of the night to wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders to extend the Saints' early lead to 21-0.

Staying in the pocket despite a heavy pass rush from an aggressive Bucs' defense, Brees' completion to Sanders has turned what had been anticipated as a highly competitive matchup into a potential blowout by New Orleans.

It is their second meeting of the year, as the Saints were able to best Tampa Bay in Week 1 of the NFL season. However, the Buccaneers were able to rebound to gain equal billing with the perennial NFC South contender coming into the game.

The touchdown pass also extended Brees' lead over Tom Brady in the league's history books for touchdown passes. Having entered the game trailing the former Patriot by a single score, Brees tied and passed Brady in the first quarter.

With his third touchdown of the night, the Saints' play caller had recorded 563 touchdown passes to Brady's 561.
