New Orleans Saints tight end Garrett Griffin has never caught a touchdown pass in his two-year NFL career. So, naturally, he scored the first touchdown of the NFC Championship Game on Sunday afternoon:

Griffin is only logged one reception in his entire NFL career, tallying one catch for four yards last season.

The 24-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Air Force, went undrafted in 2016 but signed with the Saints as a free agent in June of that year.

Griffin was then waived by New Orleans right before the start of 2016 campaign and was signed to the practice squad the next day. Then, in January 2017, the Saints signed Griffin to a reserve/futures contract.

The Louisburg, Ks. native went through a similar process in 2017, getting waived by New Orleans before the start of the season and landing on the practice squad a day later. However, this time around, Griffin eventually made it to the active roster, as the Saints promoted him in December.

He was then played on the injured reserve list on Jan. 3, 2018 with a foot injury, causing him to miss the playoffs.

Then, this past September, Griffin was once again waived and signed to the practice squad the very next day. He was just promoted to the active roster the day before New Orleans' Divisional Round matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles last Sunday.

So, Griffin went from practice squad afterthought to scoring the first touchdown in the NFC Championship Game, which could prove vital in sending the Saints to the Super Bowl.
