The New Orleans Saints continue to find themselves in situations when the referees become a difference-maker. Late in their game against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, a pass-interference review was overturned and a penalty was called on New Orleans.

At first, the officials on the field swallowed their whistle as a Carolina Panthers' wide receiver came across the field and was contacted by a Saints defender. After further review, the referees overturned it and penalized New Orleans for pass interference.

The penalty gave Panthers an extra four downs to get into the end zone. Luckily for the Saints, Joey Slye would end up missing a 28-yard field-goal attempt to give Carolina a three-point lead.

If the Panthers won on a late field goal, Saints fans would have never let the officials forget about it. Even though the Saints did win, 34-31, they still have every reason to be outraged at the NFL, Roger Goodell, and Al Riveron, the supervisor of officiating and replay.
