The New Orleans Saints' upcoming matchup against the San Francisco 49ers presents itself as a bit of a rekindling of old flames for Emmanuel Sanders, who spent half of last season with the Niners. Sanders had an opportunity to talk some smack to his former position coach from San Francisco in Wes Welker, and as expected, the one-time Super Bowl champ did not disappoint.

Sanders shared exactly what he told Walker ahead of Sunday's battle:

“I told him, ‘We’re about to kick y’all ass,'” Sanders said, via NoLa.com (h/t Michael David Smith of NBC Sports). “He kind of laughed back. But, I want to kick their ass, and then after the game we can hug it out.”

Sanders then went on to speak about his time in San Francisco, which according to the 33-year-old, was nothing but a positive experience for him:

“Man, I loved everybody in that building, because every day that I walked in there, they hit me with so much positive energy,” Sanders said. “And it starts with Kyle [Shanahan]. Kyle sets the tone. He’s a very positive dude, but he also is about working. And the same amount of work that we put in, we have fun as well.”

Emmanuel Sanders made his return to action last Sunday in a 38-3 thrashing of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This was the two-time Pro Bowler's first game back following a couple of weeks on the Saints' COVID-19 list. it did not look like he skipped a beat, and he will hope to carry on with his noteworthy play against the 49ers.
