The Seattle Seahawks are in the midst of their worst season in recent memory, struggling to a disappointing 3-8 record. Things don't figure to get better for Pete Carroll and Co., especially amid the loss of star running back Chris Carson to a season-ending neck injury.

The Seahawks were hopeful Carson would be able to return this year. Unfortunately, after a few weeks went by with minimal progress on the ailment, they ruled the 27-year-old out for the season. That leaves a vacancy in the running backs room in Seattle, and the team may be looking towards signing one of the most notable veterans out there to fill that gap.

Per NFL insider Ian Rapoport, experienced running back Adrian Peterson visited the Seahawks on Wednesday as the organization looks to add some depth in the backfield.

Peterson started the year as a free agent but latched on with the Tennessee Titans in the aftermath of Derrick Henry's injury. He spent three weeks with Tennessee, scoring one touchdown, before being waived by the franchise.

The 36-year-old went unclaimed on waivers, but despite that, there was said to be some interest in Peterson. It seems the Seahawks are one of the team's that has been monitoring his availability, and could well look to add him to the roster.

Following Carson's injury, the Seahawks have utilized Alex Collins and Deejay Dallas as their two lead rushers. Peterson could step in and provide leadership and experience for a young group of running backs. It's unlikely he'll have a huge impact if he does end up signing with the Seahawks, but the idea of seeing AP back on the field for one last go-around is very intriguing.
