The Seattle Seahawks contacted the Dallas Cowboys about a potential Aldon Smith trade, per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

However, the Cowboys had no interest in trading Smith, whose career resurgence in 2020 could eventually lead to a longer-term deal with Dallas.

The Seahawks, the best team in the NFC West, lost Jadeveon Clowney to the Tennessee Titans in free agency. As a result, Seattle has had trouble getting to opposing quarterbacks this season.

The Cowboys are a walking disaster, but Aldon Smith has played pretty well. He has 2.0 sacks and 17 solo tackles in seven games this season. The Cowboys have the worst defense in the NFL, though, despite Smith's positive play.

The Seahawks will take on the San Francisco 49ers in Week 8. Russell Wilson and Co. are coming off their first loss of the season in Week 7 to the hands of the Arizona Cardinals in overtime. Wilson uncharacteristically threw three interceptions against the Cardinals, including one in OT, which helped the Cardinals kick the game-winning field goal.

Against the 49ers, look for Wilson to bounce back in a big way. The MVP candidate rarely has two bad games in a row and the Seahawks as a team are motivated to get back in the win column.

The Seahawks are 5-1 on the season, while the 49ers are 4-3. It should be a good game on Sunday since these two NFC West rivals always play each other tough.
