As several others before him have done so, former Baylor Bears guard Mark Vital is putting to an end to his basketball career to pursue a run in the NFL. As noted by NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Vital is signing with the Seattle Seahawks' practice squad.
For the moment, he will feature as a tight end with the team.

Vital just recently finished off a four-year stint with the Baylor Bears men's basketball team, where he earned 126 starts during his time there. In his final season with Baylor, he played a pivotal role in helping the team win the NCAA tournament for the first time in school history.
The three-time Big 12 All-Defensive talent later went on to feature with the Portland Trail Blazers in their Summer League schedule last month. He played in three games and posted a 1.3 points per game average.
Amid speculation that he would return to the Baylor Bears to feature for their football team, Vital announced a few days ago that he would instead be pursuing a move to the NFL. And now, he has jump-started this dream after signing with the Seahawks' practice squad.
There have been a few college basketball players before that wound up later appearing in the NFL. It will be noteworthy to see how Vital will pan out in a sport that he has not played in since the eighth grade.
