It is no secret that Seattle Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner and Detroit Lions wide receiver Golden Tate are good friends off the field. However, on the field is a completely different story.

The Seahawks and the Lions will be squaring off this Sunday in Detroit. According to Derek Lewis of 247 Sports, Wagner is looking forward to limiting Tate's production:

“We stay in touch. We definitely stay in touch. You always want to see a guy do well. When I see, the Lions come on; I root for Golden and stuff like that,” Wagner began before switching gears. “But when he plays us, I hope he gets no catches and no yards and he gets hit a bunch of times. I could care less what he does. As long as he's healthy, it's all good. But that's kind of how I look at it. It's a game. It's a competition and it's kind of like you're going against your brother. Whether it's the little brother or big brother; you ain't going to let em win. So that's kind of how I look at it. You not going to win the game. I'm not going to give you that satisfaction.”

It should come as no surprise that Wagner will keep a close eye on Tate. The two were teammates during the Seahawks' Super Bowl run in 2014. Although he does not wish to seriously injury Tate, he does want to make his presence felt.

The veteran wideout has been a bit of a safety net for quarterback Matthew Stafford in the 2018 NFL season. Tate has registered 37 receptions for 467 yards and three touchdowns. Since he works primarily out of the slot, there is a very good chance that Wagner will get an opportunity to bump his former teammate.

Both teams are currently sitting at .500 going into the matchup. It is safe to assume that Wagner would like to bring home the win regardless of Tate's production on the day.
