After getting released by the New York Giants in April, Brandon Marshall finally found a new team after he signed with the Seattle Seahawks. As it turns out, the reason for the delay in Marshall signing a new deal was due to his lack of options while he was on the market.

“I didn't have a ton of options,” Marshall said per Brady Henderson of ESPN. “I think the sentiment around the league is that I'm done, and I get it. Rightfully so. When you get on the other side of 30 and your production slips and you have a big injury, people just count you out. So it was an interesting process. It was a humbling process, to say the least.”

It’s just the harsh reality for Marshall that few teams were interested in his services. While he hsa had a terrific track record of health over the course of his 12-year career, he’s now 34 years old and is coming off a serious ankle injury which cost him much of last season.

And even in the seasons prior, his production has waned. Either side of his career year in 2015 with the Jets, where he had 1,502 yards and 14 touchdowns, he had less than 800 yards, which is consistent with the dip in production from a receiver in his 30s.

But even if Marshall is now a diminished version of the All-Pro-caliber receiver he once was, he should still have something to offer the Seahawks, who don’t have too many great receiving options on their roster.
