The changes keep on coming for the Seattle Seahawks on the defensive side of the ball. On the heels of their trade of veteran defensive end Michael Bennett to the Philadelphia Eagles, a report has emerged that the Seahawks are also set to meet with former Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing on Wednesday.

Cushing, 31, spent his first nine years in the NFL with the Houston Texans, who drafted him in the first round in 2009. He was a Pro Bowler in his debut year and was also named Defensive Rookie of the Year.

Cushing, who became the Texans' all-time leading tackler, was released by the franchise earlier this offseason. He played just five games last season as he was suspended for 10 games for violating the NFL’s policy on using performance-enhancing drugs. It was his second such offense after being caught in 2010.

Cushing’s potential arrival would spell another change in Seattle’s famed defense. Bennett is already gone, while the careers of Kam Chancellor and Cliff Avril are in jeopardy due to neck injuries. Richard Sherman has also been subject of speculation regarding his future.

Apart from the roster, the Seahawks have also made widespread changes to their coaching staff this offseason, which includes a new defensive coordinator in Kris Richard.

Cushing, who played as a middle linebacker for the Texans, would add more depth to a Seahawks linebacking corps that already features the excellent Bobby Wagner. The 27-year-old Wagner has been a Pro Bowler for four consecutive years and a First-Team All-Pro selection in three of the last four years.
