When running back C.J. Prosise pounded in a 1-yard touchdown against the Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday, his Seattle Seahawks teammates were a bit peppier than other preseason touchdowns. It wasn't quite because Prosise scored, it's because of his journey to get to the end zone.

Once showing signs as a versatile weapon as a rookie in 2016, Prosise's career since has been anything but ideal. His rookie year was cut short after six games due to a fractured scapula. The next year, his season ended in mid-November with an ankle injury. Then, he suffered abdomen, hip-flexor, and groin injuries that ended his season before he could play half of the games.

Prosise, going into 2019, is healthier than he's been in his NFL career. It's hard for him to contain his excitement after facing adversity the three seasons prior. The 25-year-old said about his return in an interview with Seahawks.com's John Boyle,

“It’s my first game I’ve played almost in a year, so it’s definitely a return. I’m just excited to be back out there. I love playing this game, and having it taken away the last couple of years has been tough on me. Going out there, all the hard work coming to fruition tonight, it really just makes me happy. I’m excited for the season.”

And on seeing the end zone for the first time in three years,

“It means a lot to me. Not seeing the end zone for three years, I was just wanting to get in there, so I was going to fight my way into the end zone any way I can. I just really felt comfortable out there tonight and I’m excited.”

Now that Prosise is healthy, he can be excited going into the season as the Seahawks' third back behind Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny. A run-heavy team, Prosise will see the rock even if he's not the first option. It also helps that he's a former wide receiver capable of shredding defenses as a pass-catcher.
