A report surfaced on Tuesday that Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson wanted a new deal before April 15 to avoid the probable media circus that would come with Wilson entering the final year of his contract unsigned.

It seems like the Seahawks are taking heed.

According to Jake Heaps of 710 ESPN Seattle, Wilson and the Seahawks have begun to engage in talks about a contract extension.

Heaps serves as the Director of Operations for Wilson's RWQB academy, so it seems safe to say that he would have a general idea of what is going on in Wilson's camp.

There had actually been some chatter earlier in the offseason that Wilson wanted to be traded to the New York Giants, but those rumors were never substantiated, and it's looking more and more like Wilson is going to be in Seattle for the long haul.

The 29-year-old is coming off of arguably the best season of his career, as he threw for 3,448 yards, 35 touchdowns, and seven interceptions while completing 65.6 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 110.9 en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.

Wilson, who played his collegiate football at the University of Wisconsin and North Carolina State, was originally selected by the Seahawks in the third round (75th pick overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft.

He was immediately named Seattle's starting quarterback during his rookie campaign and was very impressive, making the Pro Bowl in his first season. Then, the following year, Wilson went on to lead the Seahawks to a Super Bowl title.
