The Seattle Seahawks have decided to move on from wide receiver Brandon Marshall. Citing an anonymous source, Adam Schefter is reporting that the Seahawks have cut the veteran wideout, who will now have to make a decision whether to stay in the hunt for another job or hang up his cleats for good.

It’s the only notable move by the Seahawks on Tuesday, as the team didn’t move the needle at the trade deadline.

Marshall saw his role in the Seahawks decline over the past few weeks. After getting on the field for no fewer than 37 snaps in each of the first three weeks of the season and starting in the first two games, Marshall was only seen for an average of 11 snaps from Weeks 5 to 8.

The return of wide receiver Doug Baldwin from an injury and the sustained development of second-year wideout David Moore have played key roles in the diminished importance of Marshall on the Seahawks’ offense.

After getting released last year by the New York Giants, Brandon Marshall found a new home in the NFL when the Seahawks signed him to a one-year deal worth $1.015 million.

In six games in Seattle threads, Marshall was able to come up with 136 receiving yards and a touchdown on 11 receptions.

As of this writing, the Seahawks have yet to announce how they will fill the void left by Marshall on the team’s 53-man roster.
