Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf needs to undergo minor knee surgery coach Pete Carroll announced after Sunday night's game against the Minnesota Vikings. Metcalf suffered the knee injury last week and the surgery is expected to take place on Tuesday.

“DK's got an injury to his knee that we found after a couple days,” Carroll said via ESPN. “It happened a few days back. So there's something. We're gonna do some work on it Tuesday and get him back in a hurry. So we're disappointed for him because he was off to a fantastic start, but I don't think this is gonna derail him for long. But he does have to have some work done, and we'll know more about that when we get back into town.”

Carroll said there is optimism that it will be a quick recovery but wouldn't go into the nature of what exactly the injury is. Carroll is also optimistic that  Metcalf could be on the field when the Seahawks kick off the regular season on September 8th against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Metcalf has been a standout during offseason training and the preseason and has regularly run with the ones. If Metcalf can't go it will probably be Jaron Brown or David Moore that would start alongside Tyler Lockett.

The good news is this isn't a serious injury and even if he can't be out there for a couple of weeks, he should still be a crucial part of the offense for most of the season.
