DK Metcalf proved to be a steal at the No. 64 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft for the Seattle Seahawks. Following his stellar rookie campaign, Metcalf received a ringing endorsement from Seattle's offensive coordinator, Brian Schottenheimer.

“This guy is an unbelievable worker. He wants to be great,” Schottenheimer said, via Joe Fann of NBCSportsSeattle.com. “He wants to be one of the best of all time. He doesn’t win every matchup, but when he doesn’t win the matchup, he takes it personally. He doesn’t shy away. He wants to jump back up there.”

After a strong showing at the NFL Scouting Combine, DK Metcalf received a ton of buzz from teams in the pre-draft process. Still, the Ole Miss product fell to the Seahawks in the second round. Once Seattle had a chance to select Metcalf, they didn't hesitate to take him.

In his debut season with the Seahawks, DK Metcalf recorded 58 receptions for 900 yards and seven touchdowns. He would also drop seven passes as a rookie, which is something that Metcalf is focused on fixing this season.

Due to his immediate contributions, Schottenheimer believes DK Metcalf has earned the right to have more input on the offense in 2020.

“He’s earned the right to speak up more,” Schottenheimer said. “Our guys on offense respect him. He’s earned that right to call guys out and try to bring them along, and if the tempo is down in practice, he’s earned that right. More than that, we need his voice in that regard. That’s how much I respect him as a football player and as a rookie.”

Even though the Seahawks boast a run-oriented offense, DK Metcalf has quickly become a favorite target for Russell Wilson.
