The Seattle Seahawks count their blessings every day that DK Metcalf fell to them in the 2019 NFL Draft. The 6-foot-4 wideout, despite being a force in college at Mississippi, wasn't a high draft pick. Metcalf was selected by the Seahawks with the 64th overall pick in the 2019 draft.

While every player in the NFL wants to be selected in the first round, Metcalf is actually happy he fell to the Seahawks in the second round for a couple of reasons.

“It was a blessing in disguise,” DK Metcalf told reporters on Thursday regarding his ultimate selection as the last player in round two, via Pro Football Talk.

“I wasn’t supposed to go in the first round for a reason. Probably because I wasn’t gonna work as hard if I got drafted in the first round or early in the second round. But it allowed me to come in here with a chip on my shoulder and just to realize what it felt like to be an underdog in the NFL.”

Metcalf has been called the second coming of Calvin Johnson by his teammate, Seahawks star safety Jamal Adams. The 22-year-old has recorded 36 receptions on the season for 680 yards and seven touchdowns.

Those are certainly Calvin Johnson-like numbers.

The Seahawks are primed to go on a Super Bowl run this season with quarterback Russell Wilson leading the way on offense. Seattle is 6-1 on the season. They have the best record in the NFC and two explosive playmakers on offense in Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.
