Things got off to a rough start for wide receiver Doug Baldwin after injuring his knee at the beginning of training camp. Fortunately, his status for the 2018 NFL season opener does not seem to be in jeopardy.

Baldwin is expected to miss the rest as camp as well as the entire preseason. However, according to ESPN's Brady Henderson, head coach Pete Carroll says he will be ready for Week 1 versus the Denver Broncos:

Pete Carroll tells TheMikeSalk and BrockESPN that he's not sure if DE Dion Jordan will be available for the season opener in Denver, but WR Doug Baldwin should be.

It is unfortunate that Baldwin will be out of commission for quite some time. However, it is necessary if Seattle wants him to be 100 percent for the season. On the bright side, he is one of the only few players left on the Seahawks' roster that does not necessarily need to participate in any preseason activities.

Baldwin has long established himself as quarterback Russell Wilson's go-to receiver. He is coming off another stellar year after falling just nine yards short of his third consecutive 1,000-yard campaign. Despite the down year, he is still regarded as one of the most underrated players in the NFL.

That said, there should be little concern about any withering of the chemistry between Wilson and Baldwin. On the bright side, his absence will give the other wideouts on the roster to step up and etch out a role of their own in this offense.

As for Dion Jordan, his status remains up in the air as he deals with a stress reaction in his shin. The Seahawks will be counting on Jordan in their pass rush this season after the departures of Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril this offseason.
