Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin has been far from his productive self this season. That has in large part been due to the fact that he has dealt with a couple of knee injuries all season. After initially injuring his knee in preseason, he then suffered a sprained MCL in Week 1.

Baldwin has played through significant pain for most of the season because of those injuries. But Baldwin says he felt a significant step in his recovery last week before the Seahawks’ matchup with the Rams.

“Thursday last week was the first day I woke up in the morning and I didn’t feel pain,” Baldwin said per ESPN 710. “I’ve been dealing with this for four months, and I forgot what it felt like to not have pain. … “I felt free in the game, came out [with] normal soreness – not any more than typical. I’m actually improving.”

It’s clear based on Baldwin’s numbers just how big of an impact those knee injuries have had on his performance this year. He’s got just 23 catches for 275 yards and no touchdowns through seven games. That’s after three straight years of averaging over 1,000 yards and close to 10 touchdowns per season.

As one of Russell Wilson’s top receiving targets, it’s huge that Baldwin is at the point where he’s no longer feeling pain in his knees. Perhaps that could see him play his best football of the season, which would be a massive boost for the Seahawks offense for the final seven games of the season.
