Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll says wide receiver Doug Baldwin is dealing with a sore knee which will keep him out of action for a couple of weeks, John Boyle of the team’s official website reports.

Carroll added that they will ramp up the veteran wideout's workload properly once he's healed and able to return to practice.

Baldwin, 29, was easily the Seahawks’ top receiver once again last season. He led them in catches (75) and receiving yards (991). He also finished with eight touchdown catches, a close second to tight end Jimmy Graham’s 10. Over the last three seasons, Baldwin has averaged 82 catches for 1,063 yards and 10 touchdowns.

The Seahawks will once again be counting on Baldwin to produce consistently this season amid some uncertainty in their receiving corps. The team lost both Paul Richardson and Graham — the team’s top two receiving weapons behind Baldwin last season — in free agency, which has left the Seahawks short of proven pass-catchers.

Tyler Lockett, who had 45 catches for 555 receiving yards and a couple of touchdowns last year, figures to be the clear No. 2 option behind Baldwin heading into the season. The Seahawks signed veteran Brandon Marshall to potentially bolster that receiving corps, but he’s not even guaranteed to make the team. The remaining options on the roster also aren’t particularly impressive.

The Seahawks' other significant receiving acquisition this offseason was Jaron Brown. The former Arizona Cardinal is coming off a career year as he had 31 catches for 477 yards and four touchdowns — all new career-highs — last season.
