There aren’t a lot of holdovers left from the Seattle Seahawks’ glory days, especially after this offseason’s purge of veteran stalwarts. But quarterback Russell Wilson and wide receiver Doug Baldwin are still around and will be tasked to lead the Seahawks offense this season.

Baldwin has been Wilson’s teammate since the quarterback came into the league in 2012, and Baldwin claims this is the best Wilson has ever looked.

“Well, the biggest thing is I think Russell’s better,” Baldwin said, via Michael Dugar of The Athletic. “This is the best I’ve seen Russ since he’s been here. I’m really excited and happy for his progress, because obviously that makes us a lot better. It makes it easier on us.”

Baldwin gives credit to new offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer for Wilson’s improvement. He believes Wilson is better equipped to dissect opposing defenses, which is great news for the offense as a whole.

With the Seahawks running game struggling for most of last year, Wilson had to step up and take on more responsibility offensively. He set a new career-high with 553 pass attempts and also tied his career-best with 34 touchdown passes. Baldwin was a big beneficiary of Wilson’s as he hauled in 75 catches for 991 yards and eight touchdowns.

Hopefully, the ground game will see a bit more improvement this year to help ease some of the pressure off of Wilson's shoulders. But if Baldwin's scouting report is to be believed, Wilson seems much more prepared to carry the load on offense once again for the Seahawks.
