In the last several days, the Seattle Seahawks have been monitoring star wide receiver Doug Baldwin's health as he has been sidelined in training camp with a knee injury.

There have been some doubt that he could be ready to go by the season opener, however, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times is reporting that Baldwin has picked up his level of activity this week that should see him ready to go against the Denver Broncos to begin the 2018 campaign.

This has yet to change the expectation that he will be out for the rest of the preseason as he's dealing with an injury if he doesn't handle it properly over the next couple of weeks. The fact that he has picked up his activity on the practice field is a promising sign what could lie ahead of him in terms of his availability for the 2018 campaign.

The Seahawks are expecting to depend on Baldwin to once again lead their wide receiver core as the No. 1 option in the passing game for quarterback Russell Wilson. He has proven over the last few seasons that he is one of the most dependable players at his position in the league.

Baldwin did experience a slight drop off in production last season recording 75 catches for 991 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, but it did mark his third straight campaign with at least 75 catches and 950-plus receiving yards that helped him earn his second straight Pro Bowl selection. It had also marked the fifth time in his first seven seasons that he has led the Seahawks in receiving yards.

If he's unable to give it a go by any means, it could see more reliance on offseason addition Brandon Marshall to step into a more prominent role. In the meantime, it appears that Baldwin should be ready to go by Week 1.
