The Seattle Seahawks acquired pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney in a trade with the Houston Texans on Saturday, and Seahawks offensive lineman Duane Brown, who played with Clowney in Houston, is thrilled about the move.

“It’s a big move for us. He is a game-changer in my opinion,” said Brown, according to Josina Anderson of ESPN. “Just spending time with him in Houston, I know he is respected by offensive coordinators, guys that have to prepare for him. I think he will really thrive for us.”

Brown added that Clowney is excited, as well.

“I know Clowney has to get a physical, but he's excited. I've been telling him it's a reputable organization here. I'm not sure why it all fell apart in Houston. I know how he works. Looking forward to getting him out there with us now.”

Given that the Seahawks were one of Clowney's two preferred trade destinations, the other being the Philadelphia Eagles, it's not surprising that he is happy about the deal.

Clowney had been at odds with the Texans all summer as a result of Houston placing a franchise tag on him earlier in the offseason.

The 26-year-old cannot sign an extension until next offseason, so he will play out the season with the Seahawks and go from there, but chances are, Seattle will do what it can to lock him up eventually.

Clowney's tag will pay him just under $16 million in 2019.

He is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he registered 47 tackles and nine sacks, en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.
