Throughout much of the offseason, there has been chatter about Pro Bowl safety Earl Thomas' future with the Seattle Seahawks being on shaky ground. There have been persistent trade rumors surrounding him that seem to suggest that he could be the latest cornerstone defensive player on the move.

Thomas also recently had an interview with “Off the Ball,” which is a sports radio show in Ireland, where he aired that he isn't concerned about wherever he plays as he will be paid and happy. However, the 28-year-old has since decided to revise those comments on Saturday stating that he wants to spend the rest of his career in Seattle.

Although Thomas has been quite vocal about his current situation with the Seahawks, he appears to have his focus on working out another deal to keep him with the team for the long haul as he enters the final year of his four-year, $40 million deal. At this point, the front office hasn't worked toward getting him under a new long-term extension to retain him for the next several years.

Instead, this along with the team's decision to move on from both Pro Bowlers Michael Bennett and Richard Sherman has created much uncertain surrounding his future in Seattle. The Seahawks also haven't been vocal about keeping him out of the trade rumors as the team has entertained offers for him this offseason.

Thomas is still playing at a high level despite dealing with numerous minor injuries over the last few seasons.  He is coming off another highly productive year where he recorded 88 total tackles and a pair of interceptions in 14 games played. This has added to his impressive career with six Pro Bowl selections, three First-Team All-Pro nods, and two Second-Team All-Pro selection over his first eight years.

Ultimately, the front office will have the final say as to what lies ahead for Thomas' tenure in Seattle. There is a clear desire to remain a fixture in the secondary well beyond this upcoming season, but his fate is out of his hands.
