Seattle Seahawks tight end Ed Dixon isn't happy with his injury status, but is optimistic for the season ahead. Dixon missed training camp due to quad problems and took to twitter to vocalize his thoughts on being placed on the non-football injury list on Saturday.

Dixon played his college ball at Oregon, so coming to play for the Seahawks is like a homecoming for him. He signed a three-year $14 million deal in March and will provide his new team with some much needed blocking from the tight end position when he makes his return.

“He just hasn’t been able to get (back),” head coach Pete Carroll said on Monday. “He’s had, really, three different things that bothered him in the process of trying to get back. All muscle related issues and just couldn’t get well. At this point, he’s not in shape enough so he’s going to have to get in shape in the next weeks and he’ll be healed soon, but he just hasn’t been able to catch up with us fast enough so we’ll wait a little bit longer for him and expect him to come back in six weeks or something like that.”

He is entering his ninth season in the NFL and was able to make himself serviceable in the passing game for the Carolina Panthers last year. The Seahawks hope he can replicate last season's production once they get him back on the field. A fully recovered Dixon will help them close out their regular season and prepare for a successful playoff run.
