It is no secret that the Seattle Seahawks are in the market for an elite edge rusher this offseason. It appears defensive end Jadeveon Clowney is not the only big name that shares mutual interest.

Minnesota Vikings defensive end Everson Griffin is also testing the waters of free agency. According to Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press, Griffin is reportedly interested in signing with thee Seahawks:

Source close to former Vikings DE Everson Griffen says he definitely has interest in signing with Seattle Seahawks and they could be interested in him if they don't re-sign DE Jadeveon Clowney.

The Seahawks have seemingly had their sights set on securing Clowney as their big splash in free agency. After all, they had traded for him last offseason in exchange for linebackers Jacob Martin and Barkevious Mingo, along with a third-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Although Seattle is hoping to secure Clowney for the long haul, it appears they could have a solid contingency plan lined up in case negotiations fall through. Griffin enjoyed a solid comeback year after finishing the 2019 NFL season with 41 tackles, 8.0 sacks, and an interception en route to Pro Bowl honors for the fourth time in his career.

Despite the strong year in Minnesota, it seems Griffin is open to a change of scenery at the right price after opting out of his contract to test the market as a free agent.

He could very well provide the Seahawks with a cheaper alternative that will give the team plenty of bang for their buck.
