Free agent tight end Jordan Reed visited the Seattle Seahawks ahead of the NFL's open market season on Thursday, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Reed, 29, sustained a head-trauma injury in the preseason of the Washington Redskins' 2019 campaign, and his concussion prevented the former third-round pick of the 2013 NFL Draft to compete this past season. Reed was released by the NFC East franchise last month after spending the season on the injured reserve list.

Prior to his lost 2019 season (along with missing the last two games of the 2018 campaign with the Redskins), Reed, a University of Florida product, recorded a sensational 952 receiving yards on 87 catches, scoring 11 touchdowns in 2015, his third season in the pros. Reed's numbers declined thereafter in 2016, and a hamstring injury prevented a full body of work during the 2017 season.

Reed leaving the Redskins and seeking a spot in Seattle follows suit with another veteran tight end—Greg Olsen, who signed (unofficially yet) with the Seahawks in the offseason already. It's unclear what the NFC West franchise's intentions are with Reed, presumably he would be a stabilizing depth piece for the tight ends group, but the Seahawks already made a splash by agreeing with Olsen.

Meanwhile, the NFL has suspended league activities including an annual spring meeting next week in Florida. Various teams, including the Redskins, have announced suspending coaches and scouts from traveling, and colleges have postponed pro days for NFL draft prospects. Although NFL free agency is conceivably around the corner on Monday, should it stick with the date, football is firmly not on people's minds.
